Freshwater supply in the United Arab Emirates is decreasing on a daily basis. With limited rainfall, conservation and a limit on the use of water is critical. In the future, the use of freshwater and the lack of desalinated water production will force the country to reverse the usage of both fresh and desalinated water.
Water conservation will not only help to save water but it will also conserve the energy which would otherwise be used for the desalination, treatment and transportation of water. The biggest challenge for the UAE is not finding different water sources but decreasing the demand for it as well as minimising water losses.
